We have served the community from generation to generation and now we look forward to building long lasting relationships with our new Town Square Bank customers.

Our Mission

The Bank was founded in 1889. Its mission then, which continues today, is to profitably deliver high quality customer services that meets the financial needs of our community, its businesses, and its citizens.


Our History

  • February 12, 1889
    Home Federal Savings & Loan

    H.C. Freshour, J.A. Jolly, A.G. Berry, J.M. Ferguson, J.S. Akers, Jacob Leicht, and W.H. Hunter were elected as directors of the Home and Savings Fund Association on February 11, 1889, by the shareholders. H.C. Freshour was elected as the first President.

    Home Federal Savings & Loan

    Home and Savings Fund Association was later Chartered as Home Federal Savings and Loan Association.

    Over the years the business grew and the office moved from its 15th street location to a permanent home at 1500 Carter Avenue, Ashland, KY where the current office building is located today.

    As Home Federal has grown the need for expansion has moved into many markets beginning with the opening of the Flatwoods, KY Office.

    Home Federal branched out into the South Shore, KY market where you can count on friendly banking assistance at the teller line or at the drive-thru.

    With the growth of having three locations forced Home Federal to remodel and expand into their location displayed above.

    Home Federal Savings & Loan

    Home Federal welcomed banking in the Louisa, KY Market were they are committed to providing you with the best personal service banking has to offer.

  • 1993
    Home Federal Savings & Loan

    Home Federal opened the Summit office located on US Rt. 60 making Home Federal a full service bank and five locations strong.

  • February 2000
    Town Square Bank

    US 60 Location (Cannonsburg) Opened as Town Square Bank.

  • June 2001
    Town Square Bank

    As the bank grew Town Square Bank opened their second location at Martin Luther King Blvd.

  • Janurary 2003
    Town Square Bank

    Town Square Bank Loan Production Office opened in Nicholasville, KY.

  • July 2003
    Town Square Bank

    Town Square Bank Nicholasville Loan Production office converted to a branch.

  • October 2004
    Town Square Bank

    Town Square Bank Nicholasville outgrew their location and moved into their current building at South Main Street.

    Over the years with continued growth moving into newer and larger facilities to improve customer service we are proud to announce our new Ashland office is now complete.

    The growth continued with opening the Greenup office where you will always find great customer service whether it is check cashing, making deposits or signing up for online banking they are here to help with all of your banking needs.

    Home Federal once was one of five Savings and Loans operating in Ashland, it is the only one that has survived under its original name. Home Federal has remained solid in troubled times for many years.

    Town Square Bank

    Town Square Bank’s fourth location opened inside of Craycraft's Foodland.

  • 2014
    Home Federal Savings & Loan

    Home Federal wanted to continue with successful growth by opening the Cincinnati, OH Loan Production Office.

    Celebration of 125 Years of service as Home Federal Savings and Loan Association. Today we still remain passionate about being a strong corporate citizen and enhancing the quality of life in our community. We simply say, thank you to our hundreds of loyal customers.

    Home Federal Savings & Loan / Town Square Bank

    Home Federal announced the acquisition of Town Square Bank. Two community banks blending their strengths in becoming “Your Bank of Choice”. Town Square Bank became a division of Home Federal Savings and Loan Association.

    Home Federal Savings & Loan / Town Square Bank

    The second phase of the merger took place where the conversion of Town Square Bank accounts current data processing system was converted over to Home Federal’s data processing system. Home Federal and Town Square at this point became one team.

    Home Federal made application for the new name change and logo. The decision was made to take on the name of Town Square Bank and incorporate our Shareholders Poage Bankshares Inc. colors Green and Blue.

    In order to serve the community and build long-lasting relationships with the new Town Square Bank we combined offices at 621 Martin Luther King Blvd. Ashland, KY with our main office at 1500 Carter Avenue, Ashland, KY. We also combined our 6628 US Rt. 60, Ashland, KY office with our 9431 US Rt. 60 office. With these combinations this has enabled Town Square Bank to meet all of our customers banking needs.
